| WHAT IS THE FELDENKRAIS METHOD®? |
| The Feldenkrais
Method is a unique type of movement education that restores and
optimizes a full range of human functioning. It does this by
helping you become aware of habitual and limiting patterns of action and
then guiding you in the discovery of new possibilities for action.
Everyone can benefit from Feldenkrais®. It can help you to
use yourself in a way that makes living easier by --reducing stress, stiffness and pain --increasing flexibility, balance and agility --improving posture, breathing and ease of movement The Feldenkrais Method was developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, DSc. (1904-1984) who was an engineer, physicist, and martial arts expert. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of these fields as well as linguistics, biology, perinatal development and athletics, Dr. Feldenkrais avoided surgery and taught himself to walk without pain after a severe knee injury. This event was the catalyst for the development of the Feldenkrais Method. There are two forms of Feldenkrais:

Functional Integration sessions are individual sessions during which the practitioner works with you using gentle touch and verbal instructions to guide your experience of self-discovery, helping you reconnect with your natural abilities to move. You are lying, fully dressed, on a padded table for your 45-60 minute session. Functional Integration offers you more individualized attention. After an FI lesson, people often report decreased pain, increased relaxation and flexibility, and more comfort and ease with every day movements. We offer private Functional Integration lessons for $100 plus tax a session. They can be scheduled through our office at 982-8561. |
